Students mostly get their first “taste” of working in a professional environment during their industrial attachment, so it's obvious that when the time comes to apply for the same, expectations are high on their side and even higher on their host institution. CoELIB exists to meet this expectation and provide even more. The 2026 cohort of attaches has brought together students from a variety of institutions and disciplines, creating a community of students able to learn from one another and collaborate on projects.
CoELIB class of 2026, is composed of students that come from several institutions including Egerton University, Kibabi University, Masinde Murilo University, Pokot Vocational Training College, and Bukura College.
Media Attaché's have been actively engaged in the creation of content, digital communication, and live production. The area in which they have been most involved includes live-streaming discussions on topical issues such as gender-based violence and sustainability technology related to environmental pollution. Through these production sessions, they gain broadcasting skills.
Agricultural business attachés gain valuable field experience through practical work on agricultural projects and greenhouse management. Through these activities, they have been exposed to modern agricultural methods, and the management of crops and agribusinesses, and they are now armed with the information they need to advance sustainable agricultural development.
“This attachment has shown me that agriculture is more than theory. Every day in the field teaches us something about production, sustainability and the importance of innovation in modern farming.’’ Agissa Abdullahi, Agribusiness Attache.
Environmental science specialists conduct a number of projects including participating in Ngongeri tree planting session to encourage environmental sustainability and resource management, linking theoretical principles with applied practice, conversely, information technology attachés aid the entire organization by supporting digital operations and technical systems ( resolving technical problems) and providing assistance for technology-based initiatives.
CoELIB provides more than just technical skills, students acquire fundamental values that help them attain their career goals. Commitment to teamwork, innovation, accountability, creativity and problem-solving is inherent in the daily routine of an attachés for the duration of the program. Through the continued progression of the attachment programme, the experience that students are gaining is greatly emphasising the value of CoELIB as a centre for educational and professional development.
